The top layer of our Pureplay Playmat is infused with active silver compounds. It cannot be wiped away or worn off. The antibacterial effectiveness is long lasting. Prolonged abrasion on the playmat may however reduce or remove the antibacterial properties.
Antimicrobial properties are built in to inhibit the growth of bacteria that may affect this product. The antimicrobial properties do not protect users or others against bacteria, viruses, germs, or other disease organisms.
Silver, a naturally occurring element, is widely used for its hypoallergenic properties. In our playmat, active silver compounds are embedded in the top layer. True allergic reactions to silver are extremely rare, making it safe for general use. However, if irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a physician.
The playmat has a XPE foam inner core laminated over with a fabric mesh and a topmost antimicrobial film layer.
XPE is lightweight with a closed cell structure which makes resistant to mold, mildew and is water-resistant. XPE is more firm that PU which is squishy and will crush easily underfoot while being soft enough for comfort. XPE foam is also a good temperature insulator and has good acoustic dampening properties. However, keep pointed and sharp objects away from XPE foam as they would puncture and damage the mat.
