DIY Craft: Colourful Funky Mask for a Fun Storytelling Session

· · · Comments

Oribel is going greener this Earth Day 2019 where we are rewarding YOU to reuse any cardboard boxes and transforming them into something creative and fun! Our Reimagine, Reuse and Get Rewarded campaign aims to raise awareness among children about the importance of recycling and reducing wastes. Here are some ideas we came up with to give you a kickstart! Do share what you make, and claim your reward! #DeclutterWithOribel.

A child's creativity knows no bounds, enhance your child's individuality in this fun mask-making project where they can use in your next storytelling session.

You will need:

  • Cardboard box
  • Penknife
  • A pair of scissors
  • White glue
  • Construction paper
  • Ice-cream sticks
  • Coloured markers

Step 1:

Slice the cardboard box open using a pair of scissors or a penknife to cut the four corners.

Step 2:

Use a black marker to outline the size of the mask that you preferred and cut out the shape accordingly.

Step 3:

Once the mask has been cut out, spread some white glue on one side of the mask with an unused cardboard piece.

Step 4:

Paste the construction paper on the side of the mask that is covered in glue.

Step 5:

Turn over the other side of the cardboard and cut off any excess parts that are sticking out of the mask.

Step 6:

Take another cardboard piece to draw the eyes, nose and mouth that you wish to put on your mask. Outline the shapes using a black marker before filling them in with other colours that you like.

Cut out the eyes, nose and mouth pieces that you've drawn earlier, spread some white glue on the underside and paste them as you preferred on the mask.

Step 7:

Make use of the ice-cream sticks to add some 'hairs' to the top of the mask that you've created. Show off your artistic talent by adding details to your mask.

It is now completed! You and your child can use them for a fun-filled storytelling session or they can even use it for their pretend play with friends!
